1 act of kindness 51 to go...

This cute lady is Helen Udahl. She is in her 70's and quite the firecracker! Her husband isn't anywhere near as spry as she. I ran into her at the market and she mentioned that her husband (Sam) felt like he was going to die when he was picking citrus last week. She asked if we would like to pick some as a family. She donates most of the fruit to the Bishop's Storehouse. We were game. There it was... our first Kind Act of 2009 just fell into our laps! We'd like to do one per week. We talked after our picking today and thought that the next act will be a secret.
Here are some random photos from todays lemon and grapfruit picking.

John on the ladder..this tree was 1/2 orange 1/2 lemon

looking up at Haley's bucket from below

You'll notice we all had to wear long sleeve shirts as the branches will scratch when you reach in.

Haley's tossing one in the bucket!

Haley hoggin' the ladder! ;) Picking like crazy!

Joe got really good with the long pick/basket! He did both grapefruit and lemons! Go Joe!

Me and Nick catching Haley's lemons

If you look close you'll see Nick in the tree at about 11o'clock. He stayed in the middle and filled two bags of lemons!

These funny looking lemons are big, fat and wrinkly( and I resent the resemblance) but they're divine! We will juice about 100 of them this week. We'll put them in jugs and cups to freeze til summer when we'll make some fabulous Lemonade!
